In the first film of the Twilight Saga, Bella moves with her father, the police chief of a rural settlement on the Olympic Peninsula. Her mother had been married to another man and was required to move frequently for work. Jacob, a native American boy who lives with his father, immediately becomes friends with Bella.
Bella is bored in the new house except for the Cullen siblings. Her perception of them is suspicious. Edward soon reveals his abilities to Bella, and after much struggle, she concludes he is a vampire. The film then follows Bella as she meets Edward’s family, falls in love with him, and joins his clan.
The first film in the series depicts Bella’s enthusiasm for the new world she has discovered. She also expresses an interest in becoming a more active participant in it. It also exhibits both main characters’ various viewpoints on vampire existence.
Bella sees it as a privilege and power, whereas Edward views it as a monster that has agony. Against a budget of $37 million, Twilight made 407 million dollars in the United States. Despite poor reviews from critics and fans, the franchise got a boost from the huge hit.

Bella receives a papercut, and Jasper, Edward’s foster brother, attacks her. However, he is prevented in time, and Edward decides to depart Bella and the town to defend her. Bella becomes sad and finds comfort in exciting activities that recall Edward’s presence in her thoughts.
On the other hand, it is established that Jacob and his people are werewolves who encounter vampires as foes. Victoria, a vampire seeking revenge for James’ death, which Edward has committed in the prior film, is on their watch.
The bulk of the film depicts the treaty between Jacob’s people and the Cullens, Edward attempting to kill himself after believing Bella was dead, Bella saving him, and his interest in becoming a vampire.
The second film continues where the first one left off and adds more fantasy characters to the mix. Bella’s love and desire to become a vampire remain as important elements of this narrative, which Edward agrees to if only she marries him. This film also includes a love triangle, which adds more components to the love story.

In 2010, a parody movie, Vampires Suck, was released, with material largely drawn from Twilight and its sequel The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
Despite its negative critical acclaim, with Rotten Tomatoes critics rating it 4%, the film was a commercial success, debuting at number one in the United States and grossing more than $80 million worldwide, despite a $20 million budget.
In 2012, another spoof movie, Breaking Wind, was released to DVD by Lionsgate Home Entertainment.
In the movie Hotel Transylvania, the pivotal sequence in which Edward reveals his vampirism to Bella in the woods near Forks High School was briefly spoofed by the Twilight Saga. In one of the final scenes, Count Dracula tries to persuade Jonathan to forgive him and return to Hotel Transylvania as they board a plane.
In 2019, Russian skater Aliona Kostornaia chose music from the New Moon soundtrack for her free program.
