‘Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba’ Ending Explained: Who Killed Lallan And Poonam?

Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba

Rani and Rishabh return in Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, continuing their tumultuous love story. Rani, an obsessive fan of Dinesh Pandit’s novels, finds herself once again drawn into a chaotic and dangerous romance.

Her desire for the passionate love described in Pandit’s books leads to complications, much like in the first film, Haseen Dillruba. Their relationship, marked by obsessive love and sadistic pleasure, takes a dark turn when they end up murdering Rishu’s cousin, Neel.

They manipulate the crime scene using ideas from Pandit’s novels, and Rishu fakes his death to evade the police. However,

Montu, Neel’s uncle, is determined to catch them.

Spoiler Alert:

Why Did Abhimanyu Help Rani and Rishabh?

The ending of Pandit’s novel Wrath of Kasauli and Rani’s sudden move to Agra hinted that Rishu was still alive. Montu kept Rani under close watch, making it difficult for her and Rishu to meet. With their escape plans thwarted and funds drained, Rishu was ready to surrender, but Rani wasn’t.

She decided to marry Abhimanyu, a compounder smitten by her, hoping that the marriage would throw Montu off their trail. Abhimanyu, unaware that Rishu was alive, agreed, hoping Rani would eventually fall in love with him. When Rani drunkenly revealed the truth about Rishu, Abhimanyu surprisingly offered to help them reunite, driven by his love for Rani.

Did the Trio Fool the Police?

Rani later rushed to the police, fearing for her life and Rishu’s, leading Montu to believe she had confessed. Abhimanyu and Poonam’s charred bodies were found in a car, and Rani was arrested for their murder. Rishu then surfaced, offering to surrender if Rani was released.

They planned to meet at a railway bridge, but during the encounter, Abhimanyu appeared in a police uniform. The three fell into the crocodile-infested Yamuna River, but Montu suspected they had once again fooled the police. Surveillance footage revealed that Rishu and Abhimanyu were working together on the plan.

Who Killed Lallan and Poonam?

Rani, Rishabh, and Abhimanyu were all criminals in their own right. While Rani and Rishabh had killed Neel, Abhimanyu had murdered his uncle and his family after discovering his uncle’s betrayal.

Lallan, who had helped Abhimanyu obtain venomous snakes, was blackmailing him, prompting Abhimanyu to kill him. Poonam, Rishabh’s landlady, had also become a threat after discovering where Rishabh was hiding. Abhimanyu killed them both and burned their bodies, making the police believe one of them was his.

What Was Rishabh, Abhimanyu, and Rani’s Plan?

Six months after the case was closed, Montu received a rare book by Dinesh Pandit, revealing the escape plan used by Rani, Rishabh, and Abhimanyu. They had planned to fake their deaths by jumping into the crocodile-infested river, tricking the police.

But when they jumped, Abhimanyu betrayed Rishabh, leaving him to die while he escaped with Rani.

Did Rani and Rishabh Survive?

Rani and Abhimanyu settled in Himachal Pradesh, but Rani couldn’t stop thinking about Rishabh. She didn’t know that Abhimanyu had betrayed them. Eventually, Rani confronted Abhimanyu, who confessed to letting Rishabh die. As Montu and the police arrived to arrest them, Rani jumped off a cliff, leading everyone to believe she had died.

However, it was later revealed that Rani had survived, and Rishabh, who was also alive, had orchestrated the plan. The film ends with Rani and Rishabh reuniting, while Abhimanyu is left to rot in prison, having been outsmarted by the couple.

In a final twist, it is revealed that Abhimanyu was Dinesh Pandit’s son, which explains his obsession with the novels. Rani and Rishabh, now free from their pursuers, can finally enjoy their life together.
