Barbershop is an American comedy movie franchise that started in 2002 with the first Barbershop movie, which was directed by Tim Story. The second movie, Barbershop 2: Back in Business, was directed by Kevin Rodney Sullivan and released in 2004.
The third Barbershop movie, directed by Malcolm D. Lee, was released in April 2016. A spin-off starring Queen Latifah, Beauty Shop, was released in 2005, along with a television series of the same name debuting in the same year.
The series was generally well-received and made over $235 million worldwide.

Ice Cube stars in a smart comedy about a day in the life of a barbershop on the south side of Chicago. In the film, Calvin (Ice Cube), who inherited the struggling business from his deceased father, views the shop as nothing but a burden and a waste of his time.
Calvin was very conflicted after he sold the shop to a local loan shark. On the one hand, he could see his father’s vision for the shop coming true. But on the other hand, he felt like he had betrayed his father by selling it out.
